5 Authentic and Delicious Food in Banyuwangi

1. Sego Cawuk

Sego cawuk come from the people's habbit while eating, they directly use hand to eat. the way of eat like that named “cawuk”. Sego Cawuk usually add with Pindang sauce with Gendam style. this way of cooking only exist in Banyuwangi, pindang sauce with gendam style will produce sweet and clear. Beside, you can add aditional menu such as pelasan or fish pepes, kikil, dendeng, and also egg. Sego Cawuk usually enjoy at breakfast time in the morning.



2. Rujak Soto

Rujak Soto is a type of food fusion between two different culinary, namely salad and Soto, this meal consists of a variety of different vegetables, tofu, rice cakes, and tempeh are mixed with peanut sauce, and then poured with soto soup containing cowhide or babat and chili. The combination of these two culinary produce a distinctive taste and unique at this culinary one.



3. Sego Tempong



The menu is served with various vegetables, such as cassava leaves, cucumber, beans, eggplant, etc. With a side dish of tofu, fried tempeh, salted fish, corn fritters, warm rice and distinctive chili. the food is perfect for you who fan of spicy food, because it is really hot. as the name implies, Sego Tempong consists of two words, namely sego which means rice and Tempong mean slap in the face. This can be defined make you feel slapped once because of the super spicy flavour.

4. Pecel Pitik

















The food menu is distinctive from Banyuwangi, named pecel pitik derived from materials grated coconut, mixed with beans that have been mashed. The beans that have been roasted was mixed again with a variety of spices, spicy seasoning mix with a little coconut water to allow the flavors to infuse. materials are then presented with “pitik”  in Indonesian called chicken. Pitik burned first so that the meat is tender. And pitik which used is young chicken about 8 months old.

5. Ayam Pedes














Spicy chicken is chicken cooked with a sauce spiced with coconut flavored with spices, plus chili left intact. at a glance like a chicken curry but a milky white color, not yellow, because it uses coconut milk without turmeric. As the name implies, Hot Chicken dominant spicy flavor  and it's very strong. Spicy food lovers will get a challenge from this super spicy dishes.
