Indonesia is a Huge country and have many island spread around the area. It's a parts of the Island around Hindian Ocean.
What we know of as Indonesia is a
total of 17,508 islands extending 5,150 kilometers (3,200 miles) east to west
in Southeast Asia and Oceania. The sum of these islands cover approximately
1,919,440 square kilometers, making Indonesia the world’s 16th largest country
in terms of land area. Of these 17,508 islands, only 6,000 are currently
inhabited.
With so many islands,
it’s not hard to see how Indonesia got it's name – the name Indonesia comes
from Indus, the Latin name for the land beyond the Indus
river, and the Greek nèsos, meaning island.
The largest Indonesian
islands are Sumatera, Java, Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo), Sulawesi, and the
Indonesian part of New Guinea (known as Papua or Irian Jaya).
Indonesia’s climate is
tropical – hot and humid – although its high mountain peaks can get quite cool.
The season is divided into a wet season and a dry season but because Indonesia
is located at the equator.

of the region can be interpreted as the position by latitude and longitude.
Astronomically, the territory of Indonesia is between 6° LU – 11°LS and 95° BT
– 141° BT. Based on the astronomical Indonesia is then:
• Indonesia’s northernmost region is located on the island of Weh (6° LU) North Latitude.
• Indonesia’s territory is located in the southernmost island of Rote (11° LS) south latitude.
• Indonesia’s westernmost region is located in the town of Sabang (95° BT) east longitude.
• Indonesia’s easternmost region is located in the town of Merauke (141° BT) east longitude.

The geographical
position is defined as the location of a region in relation to other parts of
the world. Geographically Indonesia is located between Asia and
Australia continent and between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. The
geographical position of Indonesia as put Indonesia in the strategic area, so
that Indonesia was a crowded trade transport. The impact of strategic position
makes Indonesia is rich in cultural and ethnic diversity.
